Last Day of Class

Since English class has come to an end I've decided to touch on a few things that I have learned in class, what I wished I learned, and other stuff like that.  When it came to doing projects I would have to say that my favorite project was the short story analysis, and my least favorite was the annotative bibliography.  I enjoyed the short story analysis because the story that I chose dealt with quite a few different things concerning sexuality and self image, which is something I can relate too. I didn't enjoy the annotative bibliography because it was a group assignment and not everyone did their part like they were suppose too.  Our professor fixed our grade once me and four of the other group members explained to her who's fault it was.  This English class has taught my how to write longer papers and proper MLA formatting, and when it comes to what I had wish I learned nothing comes to mind. I am just happy that the semester has finally come to end. 

No Summer Classes

Well the other day I found out that I will not be taking any summer classes since my financial aid is for the 2015-2016 school year, so that means I can just chill and relax for the whole summer, all I have to do is go to work.....or so I thought.  Sine I'm not going to have any classes I cannot keep my on campus job because technically I won't be a student at that time, so I am going to have to find somewhere else to work.....it's bitter sweet. 

I Remember When it Happened

When I think of an event that shocked the world, the first thing that comes to mind is the death of Michael Jackson. His death was a surprise to everybody, I remember exactly where I was when I heard about it. It was June 25, 2009 and I was at home watching television, I was watching this TV show called 106 & Park when they announced his death. All the news channels were talking about him, some weren't sure if he was actually dead or just in a comma. Just about all the music channels were playing his music videos and what not, I remember seeing people cry, seeing the tears drip down their cheeks as I kept my eyes on the television. There was a lot of conspiracy on his death, if it was done on purpose or not, if his personal physician Conrad Murray had something to do with it or not. I remember that trial went on for what seemed like an eternity. Now that I look back at that event I cant believe that that was six years ago.

Finals

I am so nervous for finals, all this week I am going to have to study if I really want to pass these classes.  To be honest though I feel like I might have to retake chemistry, my professor is nice and all, but she moves way too fast.  I heard about one professor that moves a lot slower, and he is super laid back.  But besides that please wish me luck for next week, I would really appreciate it.

Society And Casual Sex

I am pretty sure that most of you have realized that society's views on sex has changed. In today's society it is the opposite way around, instead of getting to know someone first then having sex with them later instead you have sex with them first then get to know them....if the sex is good. I hate that because afterwards you have some females that get their feelings hurt and you have guys that think relationships should be based off of just sex when that is entirely not true. When did sex become something that is not emotional?

About My Spring Break

My spring break actually went very well, which is a surprise to me. In the past my spring breaks have always been bring for the most part, it seemed like I could never get out of the house, but this time it was the exact opposite.  I went to Kalamazoo a few times with my sister, went shopping, and hung out with quite a few friends, I was barley home. I would have to say that this spring break is the best spring break I have ever had......kind of.

Springbreak

For my spring break, at first I was hoping that I would be able to go to Detroit to visit some of my cousins, it has been years since I have seen them.  I have only been to Detroit twice and I enjoyed myself both times I was there, but it looks like I am going to be staying in Battle Creek for spring break since I am not sure if I will be able to make it back to school in time. So for my spring break I plan on visiting some friends, I always enjoy hanging out with them.

Words That I Find Offensive

Racist words or terms are things that I have always found offensive.  Rather it is directed towards African-Americans, Whites, Asians, Indians, and so on I still find it very offensive, because it is very disrespectful, demeaning, and it shows how ignorant that person or that group of people can be. I hate racism, I have always thought that it was stupid and I wish it would just go away. I do not understand how a person can not like someone just because of their skin color.

Something That I Hate

So today in anatomy we had are exam on the nervous system which was about five chapters, and I also had my lab midterm for anatomy as well.  The lecture exam was the first thing I  took and  it actually seemed pretty easy until I got towards the end of the test.  I hate it when I am on a role and then all of a sudden I hit a road block, and the same thing happened on my midterm as well.  I was trying to aim for 85%, or at least some where around there, the only thing I can do now is wait it out and hope I did okay.

I Can Not Go A Day Without Listening To Music

Before I leave the house and make my way to school I always have to have my iPod with me. I always have to listen to my music when I am on my way to class, if I don't then it just feels weird. Now that I think about I have always had my music with me when I was at school, from junior high school all the way until now. Unless I forgot it for some reason, I guess I'm just at the point where it has become a habit, and I know I'm not the only person with this habit. Listening to music on a daily basis has definitely become a big part of my life.

Guilty Pleasures

When it comes to guilty pleasures, in my case, I really don't have one.  Unless you can have multiple guilty pleasures I can not just settle for one thing.  Now, when I say that I am referring to things like food and television shows.  When it comes to food, I enjoy almost everything  from chocolate, starburst, skittles, and sour straws to fried chicken, alfredo, and a whole lot of other different dishes.  I love cartoon shows from the 90's such as Hey Arnold and Dexter's Laboratory, as well as cartoons from the 50's and so on like the Looney Toons and Tom and Jerry. I also like my reality shows like Love & Hip-Hop, Bad Girls Club, and Black Ink Crew. So as you can see there are quite a few things that I consider a guilty pleasure.

One Thing That Scares Me

Before this semester started I changed my major to nursing, I decided that I want to be a nurse anesthetist.  For this career I need a bachelor's degree in nursing and a master's to finish it off, but to be very honest with you I am scared that I might not make it to that point.  It is not the school work that scares me, it is the money.  For those of you who don't know, a master's degree takes about 6-8 years and along the way that is going to be a lot of money and I really don't want to have to take out any loans.  This is my first year of college so I am trying not to let it bother me too much, but sometimes it is hard not to think about it.

What Influence Does Media Have On Us?

Personally I think media is bullshit first of all, it is used to distract us from what is really going on.  I don't know if you have noticed, but if you stop and think about it there is always a new issue that occurs right when everybody has just gotten over the previous one.  For example, for these last couple of years it's been nothing but black people against white police officers and I bet you that when that dies down there is going to be some other shit that they use to get are attention off of what is really going on in the United States.  Now don't get me wrong, racism is bad, but there is an even bigger problem going on in this country and people need to open their eyes and see it.  We the people of the United States have absolutely no say in anything at all, everything that is suppose to be controlled by the people is actually bought by the one per centers.

A Lose Lose Situation Either Way

When it comes to being in a relationship I never understood why someone would have a female on the side.  I have heard quite a few guys say how much they love their girlfriend, but then turn around and mess with another female behind her back.  In my opinion, if the girlfriend continues to stay with the guy after she has found out that he's been screwing another bitch behind her back she's stupid.  I think some women feel like since their the girlfriend it doesn't matter because he's with her, but I think it's a lose lose situation either way. If you're the girlfriend, yeah he's coming home to you but yet he's having sex with another girl. If you're the side chick, yeah you guys are having sex but he doesn't love you, care about, nor does he want to be in a relationship with you. the whole situation is just ridiculous.

What The Hell

I remember, before I graduated from high school all the fights that would happen between students.  Most of the fights would always be between two girls and it would always be over something stupid like a guy.  I never understood why females fight over guys, I mean WHAT THE HELL!!!! it is obvious that he is playing the both of you, instead of going after each other they need to go after his ass.  Girls need to realize that when they fight each other over shit like that it makes them look stupid as hell and it only feeds his ego more.

I Love To Exercise

One thing I love about exercise is that there are many different types.  For example, aerobic exercise focuses on continues movements with large muscle groups such as your legs for about 20 minutes.  Walking, swimming, cycling, and jogging are all forms of aerobic exercise.  Another exercise is anaerobic exercise, it increases the force your muscle contractions can generate, and increase your strength, speed, or power output.  There are a few other types of exercise, but when it comes to being fit exercise is not the only thing you have to focus on.  You also have to eat right and stay committed, if your willing to put in the work it will definitely pay off.  I would have to say that I've struggled with that in the past, but I'm doing a lot better now. I enjoy anaerobic exercise, I like increasing my strength and having full control over my body. It's awesome.

A piece Of Literature Worth Remembering

When I think of piece of  memorable literature, the " Parable Of The Sower" by Octavia E. Butler is what comes to mind.  This novel caught my attention because the author is one of the very few African-American science fiction writers, I thought that was pretty interesting.  In the novel, the main character is living in a society where human nature is devil possesed, kinda like how todays society is.  Rape, destruction, robbery, violence, death, and cruelty are a way of life.  The true side of human nature is savage, barbaric, and ugly, all of these things cause civilization to diminish.

I Think I Figured It Out

When this semester first started I thought I was going to have three science classes, but it turns out I only have two, which turned out is to be a really good thing. For my two science classes I have Anatomy and Chemistry, and so far chemistry isn’t too bad, but anatomy is something completely different. When it comes to anatomy I have to constantly study and make my own notes because the power point notes explain things with a little too much detail.  I also have a lab manual that I have to do before lab every Wednesday, but I think I figured everything out.  Every week we go over a new part of the human body so all I have to do is make my own notes and study from those, plus the lab manual and for the most part I should be okay.

What Function Does A Narrative Serve In Our Lives? And Why Do We Tell Stories?

When it comes to a narrative I think the main purpose it serves is connecting events.  For example, if you were to think of yourself as a narrative instaed of a substance or thing your existence is emphasized.  The actions and events of your life are tured into a whole.  When you write a paper a narrative also helps you make a point, so in a way it will seem like your telling the story for a reason.  Have you ever wondered why people tell stories? They can be told in many different forms and for many different reasons.  To find a common ground with someone, sharing experiencesor how/why we feel a particular way.  A story takes on its own life and because of that memories stay alive.

All This Snow

My opinion on snow has definitely changed over the years.  When I was a little kid I would always get excited for the first snow fall. Snowball fights, playing on the snow mounds, and sledding were the first things that came to mind, my mother never liked the snow and I can’t say that I blame her, too many people drive like maniacs even though they know that the roads are slippery. But today I realized my true hatred for the snow. Our car was surrounded by snow; I had to clear all the snow out that was on the sides of the car and the back of the car, luckily a neighbor was nice enough to help me so it really didn’t take long at all.  After the shoveling was done all I had to do was let the car run and clean the snow off the roof and the back window, even though I wasn’t outside for that long, if we get  this same amount of snow again, I will not be looking forward to going outside.

What Makes A Good Story?

When I think of the word "story" there is no way that I can define it in just one sentence. A story comes in many different forms and genres, for example, one form of a story could be a tale of imaginary or real people and events told for entertainment. Another example could be, for instance a report of an item of news in a newspaper, magazine, or website as well as a piece of gossip or a rumor. But when it comes to writing a great story you have to know the key parts that make up a great story. The theme, plot, story structure, characters, setting, style, and tone all play a part in this. A theme is something important that the story tries to tell us, it's best if the story has this and when you're  writing it  try not to get too preachy. The plot is usually about conflict or stuggle that the main character has to go through. When it comes to the stucture of the story, at the beginning, jump right into the action. At the end, finish the story up quickly. When you think about what kind of characters you want in your story make sure you know them well, your readers should be able to feel like they have something in common with the main character. Be sure to set your story in a time and place that will be interesting and maybe even familiar. And finially, for tone and style use a language that feels right for your story.

I Don't Get It

  A few days ago I was thinking…..why is it that when a guy cheats on his girlfriend 3,4,5,6 times she still continues to take him back?  I have always thought that was stupid and I have yet to hear a good enough reason why she stays.  I don’t care how many times he tells you he loves you, obviously he does not if he cheated on you that many damn times, I mean come on.  I have heard before that it’s different when you have kids and you’re married to him but to be honest I could care less about that. You should not let that stop you, get custody of your kids, divorce his ass, and that’s it.  

I Don't Like It

    Hey everybody, my name is NeQuai and for my first blog I've decided to talk about something that has really been on my mind.....college.  Now when I say college I don't mean picking which one I would like to attend, I am already a college student.  When I stop and think about it the idea that you have to pay for college, that you have to pay to get an education pisses me off.  That is one of the reasons why people can't go to college or they can't finish, they can't afford it.  I mean, sure there are scholarships and loans, but unless you have a full ride scholarship it's only going to take you so far.  And when it comes to loans those aren't really any better because if you can't pay it back then your going to be stuck in debt.  Now, let me make something very clear.  I didn't make this blog to discourage people from going to college I just think that it is ridiculous that you have to pay thousands and thousands of dollars just for one semester. In today's world, depending on what your major is you have to have a degree in something, that is the only way your really guaranteed a job unless you have some type of hook up.
